How We Started
Aurora Natural Medicine was founded in 2013 by Dr. Brent Cameron and Dr. Leah Collier. As a husband and wife team, they focused on providing excellent naturopathic care for the whole family. Over the next six years they built a strong reputation in the Gilbert community and were known for their honesty, kindness, and love for natural healing.
As their family grew to include two healthy young boys, they realized it was time to move closer to their own extended family back in Ontario, Canada and Pennsylvania. In 2019, Dr. Mitch and Dr. Chelsea Roodvoets, another husband and wife team, joined the practice. Doctors Cameron and Collier saw this as an opportunity to leave the practice in the hands of people they trust and felt would continue to provide the highest quality of care to their patients.
As Doctors Cameron and Collier prepare to move closer to Dr. Cameron's family in Canada, the Dr. Mitch and Dr. Chelsea Roodvoets have been working hard to continue the high quality of care our patients deserve but to also expand the services Aurora Natural Medicine offers to the community.
Meet the Founders
Leah Collier, NMD
Dr. Collier is a licensed Naturopathic Physician specializing in women’s wellness and autoimmune disorders, including Rheumatoid arthritis. Her passion for helping patients with autoimmune disorders comes from her own recovery from Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) using natural remedies.
When she was 17, Dr. Collier was diagnosed with RA. After being treated with conventional medicine, she felt worse and decided to research treatment. She found naturopathic medicine and relief from pain; she wanted others to feel the same relief.
As a naturopathic physician, Dr. Collier finds the cause of her patients’ pain or discomfort. She treats with natural remedies, such as nutrient IVs, homeopathy, and food allergy testing, in place of pharmaceutical medication. In cases where it is necessary, she is trained and will treat with traditional methods.
Dr. Collier has extensive training in Constitutional Homeopathy. She has studied with renowned homeopathic experts Dr. Stephen Messer, ND and Dr. Andree Saine, ND. Homeopathy is one of the most personalized, natural treatments to stimulate the body’s natural healing. She serves as Primary Care Provider for patients of all ages and who suffer from a multitude of medical conditions.
In addition to treating RA patients, Dr. Collier successfully treats patients with a variety of women’s wellness and gastrointestinal issues. Common conditions include polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), menopause, PMS, fibroids, fertility, detoxification, migraines, acne, hypothyroidism, adrenal fatigue, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, IBS, and other issues.
Growing up in Altoona, Pennsylvania, she studied biology at Penn State University. Upon graduation, she came to Arizona and attended the Southwest School of Naturopathic Medicine, where she graduated Salutatorian.
In her spare time, she enjoys time with her husband, Dr. Brent Cameron, her two sons, and their dogs. They enjoy hiking and camping. She also enjoys singing, dancing, archery, and being involved in animal rescues.
Brent Cameron, NMD
Dr. Cameron is a Licensed Naturopathic Physician specializing in sports medicine, natural pain relief, diabetes and men’s health. Dr. Cameron works to ensure longevity or relief and healing by identifying the cause of your ailments, rather than temporarily relieving symptoms only to have them re-occur. Utilizing natural remedies to treat ailment at its source, Dr. Cameron employs a holistic approach – inclusive of mind, body, and spirit.
While working with you, Dr. Cameron asks questions that delve deeper than the superficial symptoms that may be presenting themselves. Use of natural remedies, homeopathy and nutritional recommendations allow Dr. Cameron to help you achieve your highest potential through a healthy lifestyle.
Dr. Cameron is passionate about finding natural solutions to chronic pain and sports injuries. After an injury in high school became chronic (preventing an active lifestyle) he became passionate about treating joint pain to help other athletes (and active folks alike!) continue to play their sport. Then, Dr. Cameron found Prolotherapy – it allowed him to get back to playing hockey and hiking without pain or the concern of re-injury.
A graduate of the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, Dr. Cameron has experience and success in treating patients with a variety of medical and health related issues. From fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue to sleep and thyroid disorders, to everything in between. Having spent time working in a private practice as well as at a diabetes treatment center in southern California Dr. Cameron is armed with the experience and knowledge to serve as a Primary Care Provider for patients of all ages who suffer from a multitude of medical conditions.
When not seeing patients, Dr. Cameron enjoys spending time with his wife, Dr. Leah Collier and their dogs; camping, fishing, practicing yoga, gardening, and cooking. He also travels to his home city of Ontario, Canada to visit family and to fish at the lodge that his family has owned for more than 30 years.
